Our Mission Statement
We have genuine respect for our friends the animals. We are thankful for the blessings, comfort, and fun that they bring to our lives. Taking care of God’s creatures is a serious responsibility – we promise to do so to the best of our ability in an environment that is clean and kind and comfortable for them.
We hope to promote the power of pets in our hospital and our community. We provide excellent veterinary care, client education, and community service in addition to hands-on support of local animal rescue efforts.
The History of The Pet Hospital
Dr. Christine Gibson purchased The Pet Hospital in 2002 from Dr. Eric Probst, who had practiced in the Petal location since 1992. The little yellow house was remodeled with a front porch, a fenced exercise yard, a dog boarding kennel, a cat boarding room, and an isolation ward for the sickest pets.
Over the years, thanks to a fabulous staff and the patronage of many great clients and their four-legged family members, the little pet hospital continued to grow.
In 2014, Dr. Gibson earned a certification in Veterinary Acupuncture, and the hospital expanded its services to include holistic care.
In 2018, Dr. Gibson’s niece, Dr. Kate Lee, joined the staff, and they decided to add a second location just outside of the Petal city limits on the Evelyn Gandy Parkway.
The Parkway location opened its doors on Memorial Day weekend in 2018 and has been a full-service veterinary hospital ever since. The newly constructed building offers plenty of space to treat dogs, cats and exotic pets.
In March 2024, we made the difficult decision to close our Panther location. All veterinarians and staff continue to work from our Parkway location where we can better serve the community with all of our focus and resources at one hospital.
Our commitment to delivering exceptional care remains unwavering, and we look forward to continuing to serve our beloved clients and patients.
